Oktoberfest!! We visited the German shop around the corner from our hostel and got decked out in genuine dirndl and lederhosen. Opening day to Oktoberfest was a mad house! Gates open at 9am, we showed up around 7:30 - there was already a crowd. Once the gates open it is a dash to your tent of choice, ours was the Hofbrauhaus! But the party doesn't start right away. First beers don't pour until noon! Not until the mayor taps the first keg. It was a long wait, in a cold tent, but we made some friends :) Everyone in the tent becomes consumed by the spirit of Oktoberfest. We drank liter beers, ate pretzels, rode a ferris wheel, and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities.
