Part 2: October 3 - 4, 2019
Trans-Mongolian Railway
MOSCOW to ULANBATOR
Have you ever lived on a train for four days? It's a pretty wild experience! The first two days we were the only passengers in our cart. On the third day, an older Russian miner, Boris, and a Mongolian student, Tmka, joined our cart, two berths down. Tmka spoke English and Russian and was our translator while we drank cheap Russian vodka and cruised through Russian backcountry. Our last day the train filled up, but we were lucky enough to have no one else join our berth! So much room for activities!! The Siberian landscape was beautiful and vast. It was fascinating to see the little towns that would pop up along the way. Most homes had their own gardens, growing massive heads of cabbage. We were delightfully gross after not having a proper shower for so long.

TRANS-MONGOLIAN RAILWAY PART 2: OCTOBER 3 - 4, 2019
ULANBATOR to BEIJING
After our stay in Mongolia, we're back on the train! This time we weren't so lucky. There was a Swedish couple in our berth - four grown humans should not live in such a confined space. This train was also much dirtier and older than our previous ride. But it was only for one night! A complete change in landscape - from the cold snowy hills of Mongolia to lush green China! The border crossing into China was brutal. We had to get off the train with all our bags and go through a customs check. It took 5 hours. And went from 10pm to 3am -_-
